Great performance by Oak in Tipp opener
She carries me around every day so she must be a good horse. My gallops were washed away with the weather so we depended a lot on Michelle Gannon's gallops. She takes her racing well and jumps fences better than she jumped hurdles. We have an excuse to go to Galway now and she will go for the 2m 6f race or 2m 1f condtions race. She will probably go for the latter as I'm not sure she would get 2m 6f.
Goblet springs 33/1 surprise
Everyone who rode him in the past said he wanted firm ground not heavy. He had been working very well but it is a definite surprise to win on that ground. He never had a problem (regarding his layoff) I just left him off because he was running terrible. He is for sale again now. This wasn't a wonderful race and we will see what the handicapper does now. I told Alan (Crowe) to ride him for fourth and if third comes to take it. I didn't think he would be close enough to win it.
Rebel fits the bill in Grimes Hurdle
Island Wood, who runs for me later today, stood in the stable with him while we were saddling Rebel Fitz and it helped keep him calm. He keeps training on and improving. Davy gave him a peach of a ride but a lot of the work was done by Barry Geraghty and he'd have ridden him today but was claimed to ride The Real Article. Davy will keep the ride now in the Galway Hurdle if he wants it.
Aughnacurraveel beats the jolly Back In Focus
He might go to Galway now or Tramore and Big Buck's better watch out! You think I'm joking but I'm not.
Khan shows his ability for Brady & Heskin
Heskin completes Tipp double in Plate Trial
he obviously isn't in the Plate (won off a mark of 100 today) but may run next in the Galway Blazers Chase. Today was my Plate!. I'm delighted for Good Luck Chuck's owner Sean Maguire, from Newry, and I'd also like to thank my vet Liam O'Malley, from Ballygarvey, who gives me great help and advice. I have six horses in training, five have run and each has won. The sixth has yet to run, but she should win too!
Another easy win for Pique Sous
He has won three bumpers now and not many horses do that. He has loads of gears and he could run on the flat. I'd imagine he will be hurdling before the winter. The plan is to do something similar to Steps To Freedom. He probably won't run during the winter. He is one of the best we had out this summer.
