Purcell's Fest Deiz off the mark over hurdles
He deserved it and is a grand little horse and is genuine. He'll give you the same every day he goes out and he needs good ground. It was beautiful ground and we'll see how the handicapper rates him now.
Streets Of Doyen completes hat-trick for McConnell
He is a nice horse and has just taken time to come to himself. He has learned how to race now but doesn't do much unless he is asked and Philip (Enright, on Friary Rock) rode a lovely race there from the front and it didn't suit our lad but I think we had the better of him at the last. You could see coming up to the line he wasn't doing a whole lot in front either. He has a big engine and is exciting and likes good ground so I might put him away. He could be a Pertemps (Final) type horse in time and there's also the three mile handicap at Fairyhouse in Easter too. Not too many win three in a row. Simon (Torrens) is riding unbelievably and is worth his 5lbs claim all day long so I'm using him a good bit.

Elliott completes cross-card double
he didn’t jump great, but he travelled fairly well. Turning in I had a good bit left and I just kinda wanted to be there in case he did make a mistake. In fairness to him, he stuck at it. I’d imagine he would progress. He has plenty of speed but would want to brush up on his hurdling. But those hurdles are very forgiving. They’re rubber, so when you hit one a belt they don’t really learn from it. He was getting away with it out there but hopefully his jumping will sharpen up and I’d say he’ll be okay going forward.
Aherne's mare has a first hurdle win in her Diary
She won a bumper in Killarney a few years ago and it took her a while to get the knack of hurdling and to relax. She relaxed and hurdled today and it gave her a chance. She previously had leg trouble but has her bumper and hurdle won now so will make a broodmare in time. She's not finished racing yet and she is in again at Thurles on Thursday; she is very ground dependent and won't go on soft ground so we'll see how she is. That's Gavin's first winner for me.
Compensation for Morris & Enright as Foxy Jacks wins
he jumped great all the way today and made up for being unseated the last day at Limerick. We got a nice lead all the way, he jumped great and picked up nicely. On form you were hoping he would do that, and thankfully he did.
