Westmead wins for Wicklow trainer in Waterford
it's only his second run over hurdles and that was very satisfying. His jumping was excellent and he is a nice horse for the future and we'll see what the handicapper does with him. He loves that ground which is surprising, as he is such a big, strong horse but I think summer ground is nice for him. I have a small number of horses, split half and half between jumpers and flat horses and had a winner at Leopardstown on Thursday and my horses are going well. I won my first race as a trainer here, on August 20, 2002.
Halley stars with Galileo one-two
he was gelded at the back of his Aintree run and has come back very nice for it. We chanced our luck a small bit by running him at Aintree as it was his third run in 18 days so we learned out lesson and will take it nice and handy with him now. We're going to aim for a novice hurdle after this and will go from there. JJ gave him a great ride. We were very happy with Frankincense (runner-up) and were expecting both horses to run well so we're happy out. A more galloping track would suit Frankincense more but Tramore has been a lucky place for us.
Multiviz a maiden no more as Duffy's good run continues
The horses are in good form, we've a small yard, only eight horses riding out. They all look a picture, are winning best turned-outs, and are running well. We'd love to take on more horses but it's so tough in Ireland. We gave this mare a break, completely stopped everything with her and brought he right back to the start and cleared her head. She was getting a little fed up of racing but is a new mare today, so it's great. She'll tip away in this grade now and hopefully make the best of it.
