Newcomer Sambusca takes the opener at Naas
He won nicely. He found the ground a bit sticky. He is a nice horse who has been working well at home. He has a good temperament. The ground is going against him now but he just about got away with it in maiden company. If he does run again this season it will be in the Killavullan Stakes (Leopardstown, October 30th).
Bulbul looks a filly to follow
She won't run again this season but she will have no problem getting a mile in time.
Amadeus springs a surpise in the Birdcatcher
He's an unlucky horse. He should have won his maiden at Sligo twice. He was the first one off the bridle today but he stuck at it well. He had a nice light racing weight and that helped him up the home straight. He is for sale now and although he is not in any of the sales hopefully we will be able to sell him on. If not we will race on with him next season. He is a tough horse and we are delighted. We quietly fancied him today. That was the first time Wayne (Lordan) sat on him. The syndicate (Total Recall Racing Club) is made up of sixteen members. They also own Beau Michael (who runs today in the 4:50) and I think he has a good each-way chance.
Gambled on Handassa takes Listed honours
She loves easy ground. She ran well at Gowran last time out when the ground was like the road although the official description was good to yielding. She flew up the hill today. She was only beaten five lengths in the 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on fast ground which she doesn't like. I don't know whether she will stay in training now, it's up to the boss (her owner, Hamdan Al Maktoum). He usually doesn't keep them on the go.
Pittoni makes it four in-a-row with easy win
He is improving. I am delighted he got the trip. There is a long way to go but he could go for some of the better races now. He might even go for the two and a half mile races if the Fly (Hurricane Fly) doesn't turn up.
King's Parade appreciates step up in trip
He wanted ever yard of that. The ease in the ground helped him. We will look at another handicap hurdle for him now over 2m 4f plus.
Celebrity Sevi lands the October Handicap
He ran a cracker at Killarney. The ground was a bit fast for him there. The easier ground today suited him. He will make a lovely dual purpose horse. He won't run again this season and will go hurdling in the new year.
Meister Eckhart makes it two from two
