Century denies the well-backed Marakoush
He was very slow coming out and I thought he couldn't win from there. He was very green, he had to come through horses and he will have learned a lot from that. He was just ready to start. We will see how he comes out of this and it is possible he could run again this year.
Plenty more to come from Flying Jib
That was a very pleasing performance. She won easily on the polytrack at Dundalk and I thought this would be a nice race for her provided the ground stayed good. She is a good actioned filly and she wants good ground. I think you'll find that the first three are all smart fillies. That might be it for this year although I'll have to speak to Lord Grimthorpe (Jaber Abdullah's racing manager). I mentioned to him that we might consider the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Balmont warms up for bigger targets
Gamble landed as Melia gets off the mark
Heirloom completes a Ballydoyle double
He stays well and I was delighted with both of them. Heirloom has been progressing with every run. He wants nice ground and a fast run mile and a half. He's a big horse who should continue to progress next year,.
Monte wins the Cesarewitch for Ellison & Tart
After he won well at York the plan was to come here. He is a horse with a massive turn of foot, you just have to leave him alone. I walked the track here and the ground is absolutely beautiful, although this horse would probably be a bit better with a bit of a cut in the ground. He is a lovely big horse and hopefully next year he will make into a Plate (Northumberland Plate) horse. Robert (Tart) is twenty-one and he is very good in a waiting race, he has got great patience.
Pastiches off the mark her eleventh attempt
That was all down to 'Dusty', it was a brilliant ride. We tried everything with her and we said we would drop her out today. She had enough decent runs to say she'd win a race of that calibre. She is in the horses in training sale at Goffs at the end of the month and her half-brother (Shipyard) won at Navan the other day.
