Windermere win for Culloty
that was a good performance. Lord Windermere is crying out for a trip and will be better over two and a half miles. He will be a lovely novice chaser next year and hopefully jumping fences is a formality for him - he has done loads of schooling. He is one to look forward to and will go to Fairyhouse now . hopefully he will be out in a field by the time Punchestown comes around! He is a big horse and I won't run him on fast ground. He was entered in Cheltenham but the reason he didn't go was because of the fast ground. I'm just minding him for next year.Lord Windermere dropped Tom on the way to the start and while he isn't quirkly, he is a bit of a character. He is very straightforward in lots of ways and is a 100% trier . the reason he fell on his first run was because he was a big baby.
Flemenstar completes four-timer for Casey
Flemenstar hated today's ground - it was a bit too sticky for him. He took up the running a bit early but the way he was pulling, Andrew (Lynch) had to let him go on. Flemenstar has improved a lot since the first time they (Flemenstar and Bog Warrior) met at Navan earlier in the season and he jumps great.
Match scores at Naas
Up For The Match keeps improving and he liked that drying out ground. He'll be a nice chaser in a year and if the ground stays safe he'll go to Punchestown.
Great Value causes 25/1 surprise
Great Value has had some reasonable runs but didn't handle the heavy ground during the winter. It's not easy to find one of these contests at Naas and he'll go handicapping now. The plan coming here today was to try to get placed and to go to the Doncaster May Sale and he might still go there.
Double for Paddy Pub
Paddy Pub is coming back to himself - it took him a while to get back but he is enjoying his racing again. I don't know where we'll go now but hopefully he'll be sound in the morning.
Bob confirmed for Albert Bartlett
Boston Bob will be kept to the end of the week for the Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle. I was talking to Mr Wylie (owner) this morning and that is what I said and he is happy enough to do that. Midnight Game, Simenon and Allure of Illusion will probably be my three runners in the Supreme Novice Hurdle while Mark Your Mark and Sous Les Cieux will run in the Neptune Novices. I've not made decision on which race Felix Yonger will run in yet. In the World Hurdle I will have four runners - Mourad, Mikael d'Haguenet, So Young and Thousand Stars.
Knocklong takes Naas bumper
Padraig hadn't ridden a winner since winning at Wexford in October and I was more worried about his own fitness that the horse's!. The form was there, the horse in the first race today (Ballynacree also trained by Roche and who defeated Knocklong last month) ran a lovely race and I knew they had come on for their runs. He won't go for a winners' bumper he has probably had enough now and we'll bring him back as a novice hurdler next year.
