Monsoon takes out Insurance Hurdle
Santa didn't come to me over Christmas - he forgot all about me! He is no world-beater but he loves the ground and that's the key to him,. He ran well in Limerick but the second horse was a bit of a puzzle (50/1 runner-up Surf Instructor) and he'll probably have to go for a handicap next. There isn't much of a programme in the novice department for that type of horse.
O'Connell's have another nice one in Chateau
He just wasn't ready at Christmas and fortunately for (local) connections he was able to come down here to Mallow,. It is really heavy conditions out there and to do that on his first run is a good sign. He likes to get on with things and while he jumps well, can improve. I imagine he can go out in trip but I wouldn't see much need to go up in trip as we have plenty of stayers. I'd be hoping (he'd go the Supreme Novices route) and we'll give him another run before then; we'll see what race comes up next.
Much to mull over as Boy has the final say
We were unlucky the last day he ran over hurdles when the saddle slipped on him and then he had a problem and has been off ever since,. He had only one problem but thank god we've that sorted out and it took us that long to sort him out. He's a tough old cookie and when he was asked, he fought back well. We expected a big run today, amongst ourselves. We have seven horses and do it for a bit of sport. We'll wait and see how he is tomorrow before making plans.
Hourigan has Moores on right Road now
I said to Andrew (Ring) before going out, not to let him get claustrophobic - it's amazing how you find out about these horses and I just found out (how to ride him) by mistake. It's great to learn these things by mistake!. I don't know if he'll go chasing or not now and we'll try find another one in a month's time. He's entitled to a break now - but then again if a race turns up you could see him out next week!
No living with the 2 Dannys at Cork
He had a heavy fall earlier in the season and it took him a long while to get his confidence back - there was certainly nothing wrong with his confidence today,. He'll go for a handicap next as he wouldn't be good enough for those good novices.
Fragile Sumos goes well fresh again
It's a long time since I met ye people (the press) and hopefully it won't be as long again!,.
Tabor silks on a 'jumps' winner again
It was a good performance and he liked the ground I'd say but I didn't expect him to do that as I thought he'd get a bit tired,. I'd say he's not a bad horse and I'm not sure if the Cheltenham Bumper would be the right thing for him this year but maybe. I'd say he'd definitely have to run again to go and hopefully he'll come out of this ok. His dam handled good ground so there seems no reason why he shouldn't.
