He's named after Ruby's missus & he's a good one
He did it the hard way on his first run (over hurdles) out in front. He's not bred to go on that ground and he'll improve for drier ground. We'll keep him novice hurdling. He's a brilliant horse to school at home so Patrick didn't mind going on as he's a natural jumper. He just made a novicey mistake at the second and they were lucky to stay together.
Ben is a talented one for Andy & Pat
He's a good horse. After Navan we took our time with him. We've always rated him. He was off the track for two years and you need to mind him but he has plenty of ability. We've no plans . we'll see how things pan out and we'll pick and choose with him. He handles that ground but we always thought that he'd go on better too. Paul gave him a super ride and produced him very well.
Changing Times has a changing profile
God he travelled well. I had him over in England at the sales and they wouldn't buy him (not sold at £45,000 at Brightwells Cheltenham January Sale last Saturday). I knew he was an improving horse but I couldn't believe the way he won today. He looks a ready-made chaser and I know it's a cliché but whatever he does over hurdles will be a bonus as chasing is his game. I thought it was a competitive race today but it wasn't for him and we'll find a novice for him now.
Easy in the 'ring' & easy on the track for Clashnabrook
He's in again at Thurles on Thursday and he'll either go there or come back here in ten days.
Starkie delights de Bromheads
He's a grand horse that we've always liked. He was unlucky not to win his point-to-point. At Ballindenisk before the last there is a gap and all the crowd are there. He ran across the last and he just caught Derek O'Connor unawares. We ran him in a bumper (62 days over the course and distance when 5th) and were disappointed when he didn't finish out his race. However after that he broke out in ringworm and we backed off him. We brought him back then and now we're delighted. He's a real nice horse for the future, he jumps great and he works like a good horse.
Rathlin rattles off back to back Fairyhouse wins
He was hanging a bit but that was probably because of the ground.
Lead Kindly Light is a cracker
I thought the ground wouldn't be a help but she flew in. The fences here aren't small but she's a great jumper. I always knew she was a right mare and she might be even better on better ground.
