Easy for Rock Critic
I'm thrilled with that, he couldn't have done it any better. He'll go a winners of one next. I think Dad was harbouring hopes of winning another big one on the flat so that's why he hasn't started at this game until now. After that this looks his real vocation.
Carlingford Lough a young horse to follow
It's nice to have a horse like him and he'd have liked the ground a bit drier. Today's win is some compensation for missing the big hurdle on Thursday. Looking at the winner of that though (Rebel Fitz), I'm not sure if we'd have beaten him.
More Ballybrit joy for the Foleys & Gorman
He did it well. He came back to his Leopardstown form. He ran poor in Gowran but he had a good run against Einsteins Folly in Leopardstown. He came back to that form today. He stayed on well there but where he goes now depends on the handicapper.
Great compo for Pintura
Smullen can't Impound dogged Sugar Boy
I think we didn't make enough use of him in Gowran and he got done for a bit of toe (2nd there to King George River). His primary aim this year was to win his maiden. He's a horse for next season basically over a mile and a half plus. He is a two mile Cup horse. He knew his job and Ken Condon's horse (Ballyorban) made it a staying race - my fellow stays well and he is dogged.
Grand Opera wins his 10th race
He got a nice run though and he kept going well. He got a lovely lead off his stablemate (Slew Charm) and he set a good gallop. We knew he had the ability but getting it out of him was the thing. We stuck the two of them in just to keep them sweet and Samantha (Bell) gave him a brilliant ride and I told her to ride him like a piece of work. When he came of the bridle she took a pull. She's great value for her 7Ib claim.
More bumper success for Bolger & Mullins
Patrick was delighted with her. She has a fantastic pedigree and he said that she has the speed to win over a mile and six on the flat. The loose horse done her no favours. Himself and Nina (Carberry, rider of Dursey Sound) couldn't concentrate on riding a finish. It took a few strides for the penny to drop when they turned into the straight but once she got the hang of things she went away well. Eamon Cleary, the former Wexford hurler owns her (bred her as well). He is based in Dubai now.
