Kaleosun shines in Galway opener
Release The Beast wins readily on debut
We bought him off Harley Dunne after seeing him do a piece of work so fair play to Harley and he has never disappointed us one day. We were just dreading if he might be flashy but Sean was very pleased with him. At the end of the day the second-favourite unseated at the first which turned it into a 0-97 rated race so it is impossible to assess. Sean said the same but said he couldn't have won easier. All I can say is we are excited by him, however much depth there was to that race.

The Big Chap digs deep to give Flanagan a double
It was either run here or in Cheltenham yesterday in the race won by My Mate Mozzie but I wasn't just convinced that it might have been a fluke when we beat him at Fairyhouse. It suited to come to Galway and I'm delighted to see him win on that softer ground. He is something to look forward to and it is early in the year so I wouldn't get just excited yet but could go for a handicap at Leopardstown over Christmas. He likes fences, jumps, goes a good gallop and could eventually go for the Grand Annual at Cheltenham - I think that's the type of horse he is. The lads are from Mullinavat and previously owned Moon Dice (Galway Hurdle winner) with me.
Buddy One gains deserved win for the Gilligans
He definitely deserved that as he has been consistent and is after carrying a big weight and won as he liked. We're hoping to kick on to Cheltenham in November now for a staying handicap hurdle. He wants a trip, jumps well and is honest and that's what you want. If he stayed straight we think he'd have won at Cheltenham (in March) when only beaten a couple of lengths and backed it up when finding just one too good at Aintree. We might have a couple to run at Cheltenham in November and when you have horses like these, I like to campaign them at the good places and hope to get good results. I reckon he'll be a better chaser but I'd say we'll wait to jump a fence until next year.
Athenry-trained stayers earn their corn at Galway
Butcher Hollow a nice prospect for the Coopers
I thought he looked visually impressive when he won his point to point and thankfully Ciaran (Mooney, from Dublin) and John (Ryan, Nenagh) joined forces to buy him; the morning before the sale John said he'd jump in to buy him and we're delighted. We've had positive vibes with him from day one and after buying him last season we kept him in training until Punchestown. However the ground went so it was the right thing to do to put him away. Kingston Hill (stallion) was a bit quiet at the time of his sale and I'd say that's why we got him for the price we did. Six weeks later he'd have cost another 100,000, as they are very hard to buy. He is only a four year old and we'll sit down and talk with the lads and see what they want to do next. We won't rush into any plans but they wanted a horse to get them to the Cheltenham festival
