White Pepper too hot for juvenile rivals
She learned a lot from the first day and, being by Fast Company, she was in her comfort zone on the bit of ease in the ground today. She jumped great and Conor gave her a grand confident ride and kept it simple enough. We'll look for a winners' of one and being a filly we could look for black-type along the way over jumps.
Three prizes for Choice Of Words
it was a nice effort and we always thought a fair bit of her. We were going to point-to-point her last year but covid stopped that and she won a point-to-point bumper and just kept improving. We were thrilled with her run in the Grade 3 bumper at Punchestown and I was always looking forward to her going jumping hurdles. She is a nice mare and was quickening up the hill.
Global double for Cox Plate winner
Fowler's Colonel Mustard off the mark over hurdles
We knew before the race we'd have to make the running and I wasn't really worried about that but it is a relief more than anything. There was so much expectation riding on him to nail the maiden and get it done and he has. It will give him huge confidence and I think we now have a good bar from what he did last season. I hope we have a lot to look forward to now and I'd like to take him to Cheltenham in three weeks for the Supreme Novices Trial because I think it'll be good to get there and see how he travels. He is in a really good place, I have a bit to work on with him as I didn't have him 100%, because it is a long season. I am very relieved he won today.
Blackmore returns as Barcoe lands another winner
That's his fourth win and he had a great run the last day. I'd say he came on for it and the form has worked out very well so we were hopeful. He goes on heavy and over any trip, he has won over two miles and was beaten 2L over three the last day, so hopefully he will get into some nice handicaps. He could jump a fence in the summer as he is not a big horse but in saying that he is very good to jump. He is a brilliant horse to have.
Glenquin Castle makes it five in a row
He keeps surprising us and wasn't as bad (idling in front) today. But you never know with him as he can actually stall quickly when he gets to the front. He thinks the race is over and doesn't know anything about the winning post!. I hadn't looked beyond today as I was thinking the ground would be gone but he (Walsh) said he handled it and it's now deep. We were lucky the rain hadn't really got into it but depending on the weather over the next few weeks, he could go again. If not, he deserves a break. I had a horse in similar colours (JP McManus) to complete a five-in-a-row, Double Seven in 2013. He was a much classier horse and won the Kilbeggan Midlands National, the Munster National and a Listed chase in those five wins before finishing third in the Aintree Grand National.
Bumper winner rounds off good day for Allen clan
That's my first winner and I got the restricted trainers' license in April. I have three in training and I worked with Thomas O'Leary (trainer) years ago and with my cousin James Dullea. I'm based in Timoleague and this is a hobby at the moment but I wouldn't rule out getting bigger in the future. It's not my day job yet!. We've had super luck with Darragh and he rode our two point-to-point winners and there are five of us in the syndicate, four are west Cork-based and another is in London. He had two good runs in the spring but were half-worried coming here because some of the others had a run and we didn't. He has an engine though and should make a smashing hurdler.
