Opportunity knocks and Cleere collects
it is brilliant for Dylan who has been with me since he left school and is a great part of the yard at home. There is never an issue with Dylan, it is great to be able to give him this opportunity and he took it with both hands. the mare was in off 81, a basement mark, and did it nicely. We put a first-time hood on her as she can be keen and it obviously helped. Hopefully there could be more to come from her.
Yulong Voice gets off the mark over jumps
he was doing things all wrong, was too keen and then we were dropping him back in trip but ideally he wants 2m4f. Ian McCarthy (recently retired jockey turned pre-trainer) has done all the work with him and has done a great job. He was very free, especially in the three year old hurdles and Ian has been working away teaching him to settle and Mikey gave him a great ride today. He is only a four year old, there should be more improvement in him and was still a bit free for the first couple of furlongs. When he learns to do things right there might even be another day in him on the flat. He might go to Bellewstown on Wednesday, we'll see how he is but there is no mad panic as I couldn't see him getting much more than his penalty.
Byrnes rides first professional winner
that's Philip's first win in the professional ranks so we're delighted. He turned professional a week ago and it is great to see him progressing with every ride. He has just been riding for us at the minute and will probably keep riding over hurdles for a while. he ran well in Downpatrick the last day and the step up in trip was a benefit to him. We'll tip away in races like that now. I'm delighted for the owners (Top Of The Hill Syndicate), Run For Oscar won on the flat here last year and Killarney has been a lucky place for them.

Grade B win for Batcio as Aintree awaits
he did it well and it was a nice pot to win. It was that kind of a race where everything worked out for him and it was half a mile further than the last day here (in July) and the ground was a little bit easier. He had a great run in a valuable handicap at Leopardstown one Christmas (2019) and I might stick him in the Kerry National now. The idea is to have him fresh though so there is the 2m5f Grand Sefton Chase at Aintree for him and there's where he will go — he's a great leaper.
