Super-sub Doyle rides first winner for O'Brien
Copy Print scores for Walsh/O'Connell
he’d a bit of a mishap at Limerick earlier this year where he got a cut and it took a while to get him back. He wouldn't go on heavy ground. He travelled better than I expected, and I told Brian not to come too soon. He did it well and I'd say they went a good gallop.
Tiger wins for Grand National heroes
he was very keen in bumpers last year and I thought he'd come a lot from the run today but maybe the horses are a bit fitter than we thought starting off. We'll keep it small with him for the moment. That's probably his trip (2m4f), although it looked like he'd stay further there.
Blackmore claims first Graded win
Mullins wins first 'battle' with O'Leary
he's a pleasure to ride and didn't stay in the Kerry National. Before that won well at Killarney and ran a cracker in the Plate. He jumped like a buck today, quickened clear off the hill and got them all at it. We thought he was very good at one stage. He's a Grade 1 winner, and we tried to make him into a three-mile horse. He doesn't stay three miles and doesn't have the pace to be a top two miler. Obviously he's a two and a half mile horse, and he's got a bit of confidence from winning.
Jockey Mullins completes Gowran double
it was a super ride from David - he said he should have kept going at the last but felt he was pricking his ears and not concentrating so just popped it. Jessie's (Harrington) horse (Neverushacon) battled well but ours stayed on well also. Andrew (Lynch) won on him at Killarney and said he reminded him of Loosen My Load as he jumped so well which was a massive compliment. I think he's better on good ground or looser ground, and it's a bit tacky today. If it's suitable he could go to Punchestown for the Craddockstown.
Cromwell's charges lead home Gowran 1-2
he's not a completely natural jumper but if he can get involved he has the engine. I was delighted with Raz De Maree as well, and he probably needed the run. We will be looking at the two Nationals (Munster & Cork) and the Troytown for both of them.
Colonel gives Gordon/Giggs' Gowran double
he's a grand horse, and we'll look for a winners race. I'd say a step up in trip will suit him.
