Third time lucky for Dick Whittington
I should have won on him the first time out but he was quite green with me and he nearly beat a nice horse of Ger Lyons' that day. The ground was too soft for him last time out. He wouldn't be out of place next week (at Royal Ascot).
Shipyard justifies favouritism under Carroll
He likes Navan (won his maiden over the course and distance) and he likes quicker ground. I'm on record of saying that since the start of the year. He went off favourite for the Lincoln but I said that wasn't his ground. He is tough and genuine and Gary gave him a good ride. He is in the Paddy Power (Curragh June 28th) but that will depend on the ground. His owner is Graham Keyes and he is from Belfast.
Queally on the mark aboard Flynn outsider
First ride a winning one for Keith Moriarty
He is a good young lad and he did what he was told. I couldn't get a jockey for this horse and Keith's dad was on the phone to me first and then Keith was on the phone every day to get the ride. It is great to see someone get a chance and I'll used him again. The horse was down in the weights and hopefully he will go to Bellewstown now.
Ponfeigh impresses in Navan feature
He came on from his run the other day and he likes good ground. He has a good turn of foot and it was nice to see him do it smoothly. He is bred to go another couple of furlongs. He is a nice horse. That was only a four or five furlong race (slow early pace) but it wasn't a worry because of his turn of foot. He is in the Meld Stakes at the end of July and he is not entered over Derby weekend. I'll see if I can find something else for him.
Another for Keane as Flier prevails
Colin gave her a peach of a ride. I was a bit afraid the mile my stretch her but he rode her well. He is a very level headed chap. She has had three quick runs so we will give her a break now of three weeks and we will probably go to Galway with her. She is a very tough filly and she is ground versatile with her win at Fairyhouse coming on yielding to soft.
O'Brien 'second string' scores under Ana
She gave her a lovely ride. She wanted to settle her to get the trip as we weren't sure she would get it, but she saw it out well. Ana is in the middle of trying to do her leaving cert and she has three exams still to go. The horse has been waiting for that ground and hopefully Ana will have plenty of fun with her over the summer.
Bianca leads home Weld 1, 2
She promised a lot. It is nice now to win her maiden. We will look at Stakes races next and she has already been fourth in one and I'd love to win a Stakes race with her. It is interesting the way she stayed and it was lovely to see. She was a big weak filly, she is starting to fill her frame and she enjoyed that trip. I was delighted with the run from the filly in second. She is very well-bred and she is a lovely filly in the making.
