Western rules for Mouse in Fairyhouse opener
He went to the third last but just didn’t get home the last day at Naas. Two miles is definitely his thing and he handled the ground. We’ll try and find another one and he’ll jump a fence in time.
Getabird back to his best at Fairyhouse
He’s back to himself. Paul was brave on him and said he was going to ride him like that. He enjoyed himself out in front with his ears pricked all the way. Hopefully he’ll go to Punchestown now.
Gibney gains compensation with Ah Littleluck
Coquin Mans bounces back from Clonmel slip
You can probably take it that he’d have won coming down the hill at Clonmel the last day! He was just unfortunate the last day falling on the flat. He had a little pin-prick cut in his knee that went right into his knee and took a while for him to recuperate. He looks a horse with an engine and one to look forward to over fences next season. He’ll go to Punchestown and it’s great to see the Hurricane Fly colours back in the winners’ enclosure again.
Mullins and Townend complete 28/1 Grade 2 treble
Paul said he wasn’t beaten when the other horse fell. He was just letting him coast and waiting for the challenge. He had his ground today and will probably go on to Punchestown now. He’s made of iron this fellow. He pulls out every day and the way he races and trains every day at home. He’s as hard as nails.
Elliott lands first Irish National with General Principle
He wasn’t one of my leading horses but it’s great to win. He ran very well in the race last year, and JJ gave him a great ride and it worked out great. I’m delighted. To be honest there was that many of them coming to the last I didn’t know where to look. I was watching Folsom Blue as he was coming home strong but he got mowed out of it and was unlucky. We’ve had a rough enough week hitting the crossbar with a good few and to win this is brilliant. We’ll enjoy it. I’d really need to watch it again to have a better idea what happened.
Lantern back to his best in first time blinkers
There would be no point buying a DVD! We put the blinkers on him and they sharpened him up. Donagh said he was faster over his fences. Last time in Limerick the ground was just gone too tacky for him. He won three last year and has been starting to come back to himself. The looser ground today helped and he likes coming off a strong gallop. I want to go to Aintree with him but he needed to win here and go up 5 or 6lb to get into the good 3m1f handicap chase on Grand National day. If the ground is soft there it would suit him.
Getaway makes it 3 on the day for record-breaking Elliott
He’s a smart horse and we like him a lot. He doesn’t do anything fancy but he gallops like hell and I think he’s a real nice horse. He could go to Punchestown now all being well.
