He wasn't winning out of turn. I needed it more than him! . He has been running well the whole year and he is only learning to settle. I thought he would have won by now but he was just too free. I was trying to hold him up all year and get him to settle and maybe that is the right thing to do with him. We had no choice but to make the running today as it was a poor race.

We've had a few issues with him jumping and he has always been a bit sticky. The last twice I ran him over the plastic hurdles and he just didn't enjoy it at all. He was a bit awkward over the first few today but he warmed into the race. It was grand to get that today. He is a highly rated flat horse but he has been disappointing. He has won nicely today and hopefully he can improve from it. I think no hurdle in the straight was a big help to him. The final hurdle was causing problems during the year (where it was previously positioned), horses were just diving at it for no reason and I was glad to see it gone today.

It is nice to finally get a win with him, he has been knocking on the door there for a while. John O'Shea (Irish international) and a group of his friends from Ferrybank own him so it is nice to get a win for them,. I thought Johnny gave him a super ride, he took his time there when they seemed to be going a stride too quick in front. He is after being a little bit frustrating but he got there eventually.

He loves that ground and he needed the three miles. It was too short at Limerick for him. Limerick sharpened up his jumping as they were going that bit faster and he had to jump them.
