Gigginstown 1-2 in Limerick's opener
he loves that ground but was idle enough. He’ll improve again and he’s with the right man. I’m with Mouse two mornings a week and that’s my second winner for him.
'Never apologise for luck'-fortunate LK winner
we were settling for a nice run going to the second last but we were lucky to win - although my mother says you should never apologise for being lucky!. he was a great horse to get starting off training and Dr Heffernan (owner) has a few other horses with me too so it’s great to get a win. He’s been second for us four times and it was nice for him to get a bit of luck. To be fair to him he did dig deep on the run-in and he stays three miles. Today was the plan and while he is in on New Year’s Eve, he has had a hard enough race there and won’t go. He’s not a brilliant jumper of fences but it is something we’ll have to reconsider again because he’ll have to step up to a higher level over hurdles after that.
Bravissimo for Champion Mullins!
Bellshill wins Limerick's Grade 2 feature
she made a bad mistake here the last day and it rattled her and prior to that had raced on the flat from wide draws. We bought her for a bit of craic and she has such a high cruising speed - we might give her an entry in the Boylesports Hurdle at Leopardstown in January.
he was lucky he had a light weight on the ground and tied up a bit at Navan the last day too. Robert and Mary (Tyner) have done an unbelievable job with this horse - he has had problems and they gave him the time and the owners were also very patient. It’s great when they repay them like that. Hopefully he can pick up another race at that level and he likes heavy ground.
Mullins completes St Stephen's Day 6-timer
we’ve had a brilliant day and I’m delighted for the Blue Blood syndicate who have her leased off Mags Mullins, who owns her. Myself and James Fenton, the main man in Blue Blood, got her leased and she was very lazy but on that ground, that is an advantage. There’s more to come from her and we might look for a winners’ bumper with her next and she’ll jump a fence in time. She’s only four and can go hurdling next season.
