Notre Gris keeps on best to land the feature
He hit a flat spot around two furlongs out but he kept finding for me. It is very testing out there and that is my twenty-third winner of the season. Ronan gave him a great ride. I have to thank Kevin Manning as he told me to put Ronan on him and take the three pounds off at Down Royal on Friday. He is a very good rider, as good an apprentice to have come out of Ireland in years and he is well worth his claim. Penny & Bill Foley (the winning owners) are great patrons of the yard and they are a joy to be around. I'd say he would go on any ground and he is a tough horse and stays well.
Talitha routs the field despite market drift
She did it real well and handled the ground. She put distance between herself and the rest of them. She is big filly and has strengthened up with each run. She will be better next year. She might go now for the Blenheim Stakes at the Curragh or the Birdcatcher at Naas. She has always worked well at home and it is nice to have a good horse for her Italian owner Manuela Martinelli. I'm sure if I suggest going for the Listed Blenheim Stakes next she will be happy with that.
Coakley gets Jappeli up close home
I'm very pleased with that. I wasn't sure what to expect as she struggled on the heavy ground at Galway. There seemed to be no bottom to the ground there but as the season comes to an end she seems to be getting tougher and we said we would let her take here chance. I'm delighted for Ross, who is our stable apprentice, and his seven pound claim is valuable. He has been on the wrong side of a few photo finishes and it is nice for him to win this one.
Pride Of The Artic completes his hat-trick
He just keeps improving. We were a bit worried giving the weight away today (giving five pounds to his two rivals as he won two chases). He got in close to the last but he popped over it and he jumped well throughout. We will have to step him up to graded company now and there is lots of good races over the winter for him now that we know he handles the heavy ground. The race at Galway that he won has worked out well and small fields seem to suit him as it gives him time to settle.
Nolan & Doran back in the winners enclosure
I'm delighted for Jim (winning owner/breeder Jim & Mary Halligan). She stayed on well and it was probably a moderate contest. I thought she wouldn't handle the ground and I've just gave my license over to the local publican as it shows you how much I know! . I thought she was beaten turning in but she kept at it well and seemed to handle the ground better than the rest of them. It is great to win a nice pot like that. We don't have the same numbers in yard and that is a boost now. She will probably go back over fences and we will try and win a mares beginners chase with her and she will probably go breeding next year.
Mackey Boy battles to victory
The ground is very heavy and it is getting tougher as the days go on. A bit of rain actually might keep it together at this stage. He won at Limerick and then we ran him again there but he wasn't right. He wasn't right at Sligo either but he came good over the last couple of weeks and he was in good form.
Stolberg wins on his debut under Burke
I got a half-day off school today and I told my teachers not to back him so they won't be happy!. I fancied him during the week but I didn't think he would handle the ground. He is a good horse and I would be happy to sell him if he were to stay in training with me. He is a half-sister to Dolly Hall who won on that ground. Jonathon gave him a brilliant ride. He done the right things and he has bright future.
