Mighty Stowaway makes odds-on punters sweat in opener
The ground was too quick and the trip was too short and he did well to win because going across the top he was beaten. She said he was always getting there and we'll step him up in trip to 2m6f now and the heavier ground will be better for him. She gave him some ride. We'll leave him to Christmas now. My horses are running well and we're after having a great weekend point to pointing with three winners and a second.
Hanlon continues hot streak with Thurles double
Rachael gave him some ride again and he deserved that as he has been consistent the whole time. He'll stay chasing but is a good hurdler and should pick up one of those too. I think my horses have been 100% right the whole year. I'd love to have more horses and we're down in numbers and have only 12 or 14 for the track. The rest of them are point to pointers and I've five going to the sales at Cheltenham on Friday.
Dual-purpose Jake Peter opens hurdle account
He’s rated 100 so I said if I went for the right type of maiden it might be better than going for a handicap. We'll definitely go for a handicap now and while he is only 430kgs, he is a hardy boy and there is great stuff in him. We might try him once in winter ground and then might give him a break but I still thing I'd like to go to Dundalk with him. I trained his mother (nine-time winner Kate Emily) and it's great for his owner/breeder Frank McNulty.
Rabbitte pops up for welcome maiden win
It wasn't the best race in the world but he ran well in a handicap at Fairyhouse last week. He probably wants a bit further in softer ground but there should be another race or two in him and he's only a five-year-old. He'll go handicapping now and has a rating of 88 which is about right.
Fintown follows up for Hayes/Winters
He’s a big strong horse and while he is going on that ground, he may as well make the most of it now. The owner is anxious to leave him off for the winter but while he is in good form and if he is ok tomorrow, we'll see about plans. I hopped up on him myself yesterday morning and he seemed to be on top of the world and was at his peak. Brian Hayes is a great horseman and winners gives everyone confidence and he rode him with confidence today.
Doyle shines on Rain In Spain
Pakens Rock makes all for decisive victory
He had two nice runs and got a great ride from Derek. We'll celebrate first before making plans and see how he is tomorrow. We'll see how the form pans out and we'll learn from the other people and see what they do with their horses. I felt I was unlucky not to have a winner here on Thursday with Kilchreest Moon (beaten less than a length) but these things happen. It's the owner that's important and Ray (Healy, owner) is from Kilchreest and I've known him and Maggie his partner for 21 years. Andrew Flaherty, the conditional jockey, rides him out and myself and Kevin Heffernan, who is himself a trainer, helps me out in my base at Clarinbridge in Galway. I'm always open to take more horses.
