Mt Leinster Gold completes five-timer
Bye from Brion, as American leaves on a winner
I’m going out with a bang as I’m heading back to America on Sunday and there are nine horses including this mare coming back with me. It’s been a great last week. I’d say we’ll come back again now that I have a better idea what it takes and what kind of horses you want and whatnot.
Second course win for Fortune Street
he won his bumper here and we had kept him back from a few races recently in the hope that this might be a weaker maiden but it wasn’t a bad race. He deserved that and likes it here. I thought Richie was excellent on him, kept things very simple and I thought that was his best jumping performance. Richie is a good hard-working lad and rides work or schools for us whenever we want him. He’s come back from a horrible leg injury and it’s great to see him doing well. He said he loved that ground. We were always afraid to run him on it as he’s a heavy topped horse. I’d say he’ll stay on the go now. They have done a brilliant job here with the ground and it’s lovely, safe jumping ground. Jim Coffey and SoftCo are massive supporters of the yard and to have winners for them is vital.
Fortune favours reserve, 'favourite' must wait
I didn’t think she’d handle the ground today as well as she did. She wants real nice ground. I walked the track and I thought it was a little bit dead in patches which she wouldn’t like. Sean said she got a blow early enough that he was able to fill her up. They got racing plenty early and she got back into it fairly easily. She’s a real summer mare. She’ll run away for the summer in both codes and is a nice mare to have around the place. I think she might come on a bit for the run as I didn’t think she was one hundred per cent today.
Aintree Grade 1 winner scores at Wexford
Irish National hero rides winner at Wexford
she got caught at the start in Thurles the last day but finished unreal. She’s a lovely mare to train. She stays and is unreal to jump. Hopefully we’ll go to Punchestown now for a mares handicap. She takes her races well and has a great attitude
Skyace team win Wexford's finale
I’d say a combination of the trip and the ground (helped). He’s been running on soft ground and was just getting stuck in it and he really is a good ground horse. In such a low grade on good ground and he jumps so well — it all came together for him today. I’d a bit of an anxious moment at the last when he had a bit of a look at something but he’s done it well. He’s found his own level now and if he can stay in that grade he’ll be competitive again.
