Zolpharine makes winning start over hurdles in opener
This is a lovely horse, he's a half-brother to Fairyhill Run,. My cousin Tom Meagher bred him and the mother died when he was only three weeks old. Then his foster mother had bits of problems, it's only now he's growing into a horse. He's a useful horse. He'll go to Listowel now for the winners of one novice. He wants further, he's out of a Flemensfirth mare. Fairyhill Run is a brilliant mare, she won a lot for us. She got an injury but it looks like she'll come back. I'd say he's way better than her, he's exciting. He's not very big yet but he's a nice one and he won that race with a bit in hand.
Doyle gets another win out of McGreevy
He's difficult, it's not easy to get his set-up right. He needs to go right-handed and needs a good pace,. I was a little bit worried about the mare today (Effernock Fizz) but we decided we'd leave each other alone, she just couldn't really go quick enough for him. I'm very pleased for the owner/breeder (Edward Holly) as it's a long old road for them. It's great he's got his head in front again today. Fences didn't work out for him last year so we're going to park that and go for another hurdle. We might look at the Flat with him as well as he seems to have plenty of boot.

Cathys Quest gets off the mark in style
She's from a very good family and we thought that she'd win a long time before this, we were very disappointed with her to be honest. . We're not really sure what the problem was. It's hard to get her to eat and she was always a little bit light. She's thriving a little bit better than she was. . We always felt this was in her and there is probably more in her. Hopefully she'll progress and she can jump a fence. I think she could be a decent enough mare, even though she's off a low mark. . I thought ground might be important to her but I'm not really sure if it's that or just her attitude. She seems to be hardening up to it now and that was a decent performance from where she started.
O'Brien & Shinnick double up at Kilbeggan
I was confident enough that both of them seemed to be in good old form and they are both at the right end of the handicap,. We only have this mare a couple of months. We got her from Edmond Kent and in fairness to him he did say she should be able to win. He had a lot of horses and he gave us this one to lease and a local syndicate leased her. . It was a promising enough run the first day in Tramore and I was hoping that she might improve a bit here, she obviously did improve a good bit.
Typical Thomas an atypical winner of dramatic beginners'
When your luck is in, it's in. He was probably going to be third. We were just hoping that it wouldn't come too quick after Downpatrick and it looked crossing past the stable-yard that it probably had taken it's toll on him.
Kilbeggan brace for James O'Sullivan
He ran in a chase at Ballinrobe a couple of months ago and we felt he ran a little bit flat so we gave him a holiday afterwards,. He had a nice break and did very well. He came back with the idea of running in Galway but I just felt he wasn't ready enough. . I had seen this race and we said we'd target it. The chase he ran in at Ballinrobe had nine runners and four of them have won since so it's amazing the way form works out. . I didn't think this was the strongest chase in the world tonight and he has run very well over hurdles here before over two miles so the step up to two-three here was never going to be a problem. I thought it was a good opportunity. . He's rated 100 over hurdles so we'll probably go back that route in the winter at some stage.
Mullins' combine to land seasonal finale at Kilbeggan
She improved hugely for her first run and we stepped her up three furlongs,.
