Good start at Dundalk for Cotter and McDonogh
He backed up his run from last week. That was his first run over five and the experience alone probably stood to him,. He had to grind it out there after an 11lb rise. He ran a good time last week and we were fairly confident he'd win again today. We'll see where we go from here, he's progressing nicely. There might be another day in him if he's not hit too hard. We'll see what the handicapper does, if we got a third win we'd be very happy.
Queenship completes quick double for McDonogh
The step up in trip definitely suited her. She's gutsy and game. She had a lovely run first time up. It maybe didn't turn out to be the greatest race but she's definitely improved.
Sunset Nova gains an overdue second win for the Slatterys
It was a long time coming. It's the first day he's jumped well as he's always been missing the break. Things went right today. He was always going to win one but you need luck on your side someday. I left it up to (son) Andrew how to ride him as he knows him well. It worked out and it'll keep the owners (Men Of Forty Eight Syndicate) happy.
Progressive Pure Nature gains third win at Dundalk
She was very good there. I told Chris just to take his time as she was ridden quite cold on her previous two wins here. The last day here they went no gallop at all and she got caught down the rail. She needs a truely run race to be seen at her best as she's a stamina laden filly. She'll only improve, Chris said she was still a bit green. She has a lot of options now. We nominated her for Dubai and she could be on a plane out there. She was 82 today and I think 90 is the minimum for the handicaps out there so she should definitely qualify now. We're over the moon and delighted for the owners (Phoenix Thoroughbreds) as well.
Eagle's Flight lands maiden win for Halford and Whelan
Crosse only has to lean on Tower Of Pisa to score readily
She ran a good race here the first time when she got the hang of things inside the last furlong-and-a-half and the step up in trip today suited. She travelled beautifully today and she's a filly going forward. It might not have been a great maiden but she's done it nicely.
Dare To Flare completes a double for the Slatterys
He's probably got himself handicapped by missing the break,. I have to thank (the starter) Joe Banahan who suggested trying him with a hood. He jumped well the last time and jumped well tonight. He's a decent horse, he has thrown away some decent races by missing the break and has even won races after missing it. It made a big difference today as he jumped well and travelled. You get nights like this (a double) and nights that go the other way, you get more that go the other way.
Hunt Cup winner Settle For Bay back to form
It's great to have him back. To be fair to him he's had an awful lot of problems but class is still class. I know he was off a good mark. The horses weren't right during the summer and he's had a good break. His first run was very good and he's obviously improved a lot on his second run. I fancy that he'll keep going forward now. At the moment we have no problems and that's always a good thing. We might look at the Hunt Cup again next year. He'll have another run of two here and we'll see where we land then. We're a long way from a Hunt Cup obviously but he's on the way back anyway.
