He's a good jumper and just when he asked him he got there a bit soon,. I fancied him a little bit the last day but I'd say two miles wasn't his cup of tea. Two-five today was perfect for him. He had a couple of good wins as a novice hurdler and then he couldn't find his way last year. He got to a mark of 110 last year and just couldn't improve off it. He's come back a nicer horse this year. Chasing is his game definitely. We'll see if we can find another handicap now.
De Bromhead strikes again with Dicey
Let's Dance gets back on track
Yesterday was very disappointing but you have days like that. As least Yorkhill and Djakadam came back. Nichols Canyon was very hard to take. It's hard to replace a horse like him but we'll move on,,. It's very hard to find horses like him. He was so tough, always gave his all and was so exciting to watch. He wasn't the biggest horse in the world but had a huge heart. He'll be missed in Closutton. We're well used to disappointment as well. It happened the first two days in Cheltenham but as long as the horses come back there will always be another day. We'll sit down and make new plans for the horses that got beaten. After yesterday confidence wasn't quite as high as it could be. She was top rated, she won it last year and she was working well at home. She fell on his seasonal debut and we didn't learn much there but we were hoping if she could do what she does at home she'd win and thank God she has. It lifts everyone a bit and gets the confidence up. This is the first day that Rich has been here so it's great to get a winner for him. It's important for Paul. Obviously he had great wins on Total Recall and Faugheen. The last few days haven't been as good but he won the Grade One on Footpad.
Drama aplenty as Love conquers all
She's a big honest mare. She handled that better ground way better than I thought she would. Mark said she loved it and jumped from fence to fence. She was a little bit fortunate as there were a few fallers but that's just the game. She galloped the whole way to the line. We're lucky we've got a few nice horse at the minute so we're delighted. Jury Duty ran well in second as well. We'll have to have a think about it and see where she goes now. She's got plenty of different options. She handles that ground well, she jumps and she stays. She's a nice one to have.
Mick picks up the pieces as Faugheen pulls up
Obviously Faugheen looked to be a certainty but there is no such thing as a certainty in horse racing. I just hope he's okay. It was Mick Jazz's day. We went to Cheltenham last year and George Mahoney, who owns a half share with me, flew over with all his family for the County Hurdle last year and he was lame on the morning of the race. Today was his day in the sun. The plan was to go to America next year for all those jump races but we'll enjoy today and see what happens. George is a big owner in America. He's a good man and he's got a few horses with me. It's nice to repay him. We bought him out of a dispersal sale in Doncaster. I bought him with the plan to go to America but we just had a few little niggly problems. I'm glad he didn't go now. He'll have to entry now in the Champion Hurdle because you never know but we'll enjoy today first. There was no race to run him in, this was the only race we could really run in and we were running for prize-money. It just goes to show if you're not in these races you can't win them. Today was our day and we're delighted. He's not a bad horse. I was sneaking away thinking we'd be second. Then we see Faugheen coming out and I had three in it but Willie still had one in front of me! It's our day today and we're delighted.
De Bromhead doubles up with Mind's Eye
Encore makes it four for Mullins
I thought Patrick was absolutely fantastic on him. He read him right and was hoping that he would improve from the hard race he had the last day which he did. It's a testament to the horse that he improved from that as he had a very hard race in Fairyhouse but the experience of that paid off. I was going to go hurdling with him but I think we have to have a change of heart and maybe we'll keep him to bumpers this year but we'll see. We'll have a chat with the owners.
