Brave Display delivers "big bonus"
He's after winning three now and loves it up here. The last day I was a little disappointed, and really I only ran today because there were only six runners and if we beat one we'd get a cheque. Anything else was a bonus and it was a big bonus!. I think there is another little handicap in him up here or maybe on the grass on fast ground but we'll probably have to go back to using an apprentice again. He goes well for an apprentice. He doesn't quite get seven and six is probably his best trip. He's on his head a little bit over five but a true run five, which it was tonight, suits him.
Nimitz shrugs aside top-weight burden to win
I didn't think it would take him that long to win but it's good that he finally did. The jumping boys have been on to me for a year trying to buy him as he's a fine big horse but Michael (Keating, owner) was keen to hold onto him. He could have a run or two more here and then a break in the first bit of the turf season when it is soft. Billy gave him a lovely ride as I told him to wait for as long as he possibly could. He was just a bit fresh tonight because he'd had a bit of a holiday over Christmas but maybe that's the way to have him.
Clear Skies continues on the up and up
She's a fair filly and we just had to get her head right more than anything. She's got it all together now and has a fair bit of ability,. She was nice and relaxed in the race and before it as well. She just didn't get home over two miles the last day.
Break well earned for 4-in-a-row Bay
He's won his four and I'd say we'll give him a break now. He's obviously an exciting horse for the summer when he fills out another bit. He wasn't that green today and I liked the way he coasted up and did his job. Long term he could be a Royal Hunt Cup horse. He could come back for the Premier Handicap on Guineas weekend (at the Curragh) and there is a race for him in Naas as well.
Florista puts herself in shop window with debut win
We had her here a couple of weeks ago and she ran well in a schooling race. It was her first time away as she was a big raw two-year-old and I threw her out for the summer,. I had this race in mind when she was brought back in. I'm not surprised but I am surprised by her price. She's a big raw Casamento and she is for sale. Gary Devlin and my wife Hazel own her. She hit the line well and I think she will progress. They went fast and she stayed on well so a mile should suit her.
Shorter distance and Punch works better
Three Majors - "it clicked tonight"
Kevin rode him last week and said if he rode him again that he'd bounce him out and try to make it. He's a monkey of a horse that has serious ability but we could never get it out. That's why we tried the eye-shield on him,. He's the ability to win a race like that any day of the week and it clicked tonight. It's great for Rita (Shah, owner) and all the team that he's done it.
