Enright gets on the score-sheet for Doyle
McNamara/Heffernan keep up the good work
I was very disappointed with him in Clonmel but it turned out a much better race than I thought, the second horse ended up being rated about 130,. He was due a turn and it's great that we got it today. I think Icario probably didn't run to his mark and we probably just ran to ours. The other horse was probably coming to the end of his tether (at the last). Our lad wouldn't be the strongest battler in the world but I don't think he had too much competition at the end today. Whatever way it happened I'm delighted to get it and the horses are running very well. I think that's our fourth winner in six runners this month. We'll keep this lad going during the summer and he'll probably run on the Flat as well. We'll look for a rated novice or something now.
Lights gives Elliott more precious prize-money
He won well in Fairyhouse the other day but I'd say the track didn't suit him great today,. I had it in my head after he won that he might go to Punchestown but when I looked at the race he won't get into it so I decided to declare him here. He might go to Punchestown now for the Opportunity Hurdle. Anthony gave him a good ride. I'd say the better track will suit him better. He was a little bit on the back-foot the whole way but this place is a bit like that. Fair play to the owners for letting me run. I probably should have left him but we're under pressure with the prize-money.
2 up for Townend and Prince
I would have been disappointed if he hadn't won to be honest but I suppose I had in the back of my mind the 16lb (rise for Tramore),. He did it well. He likes to gallop away and Paul said he was idling a bit. If another horse had come to him he'd pick it up again. He stayed the three miles as well. We're just taking it a race at a time with him. The boys are delighted as they are after getting two wins into him. Paul said he would even have more respect for a fence.
Elliott doubles up with Liberty
On her form last year she was entitled to win it,. I was a bit worried when I saw the watered ground that it might be a bit soft for her but in fairness she pulled it out and galloped the whole way to the line. It's great for the lads that own her (Twenty Syndicate). She was a cheap enough buy and they are having good fun with her. She might go for a two-and-a-half mile handicap chase at Punchestown. We might give her a rattle at that.
Lucky Pat wins a 3rd at Kilbeggan
We had him ready for this. That was the plan starting off here,. Fair play to Aaron he gave him a lovely ride and with the 7lb off him we were hoping he'd run a nice race. We've always thought plenty of him and then he had an injury. The ground was never quick enough for him in the autumn and he had two or three lovely runs. We left him off then and said we'd wait for the ground. There is a real good handicap in him. We have the Galway Plate and the Midlands National in our heads long term. He handles around here and won over hurdles here. We knew he'd handle the track, he's very balanced and jumps beautifully so that's a big help to him. He loves Galway so it would be the main plan if it worked out.
Bleahen will never forget Kilbeggan bumper
I thought he had it but the horse on the outside flew home,.
