So easy for Sioux Nation
Bounty does his job
We bought him in Newmarket for four grand for a syndicate who just wanted a fun horse and didn't have aspirations of going to Cheltenham,. They (Forever Optimists Syndicate, from Killarney) bought him as a fun horse who could run fairly often for the summer and Oisin Murphy (jockey), my nephew, and I went through the form book and picked him out. He'll go for something similar next and he'll provide them with plenty of fun.
Murtagh aims high with Yolo Star
we always like to dream so we're hoping she could be a Queen Mary type filly. You need to be tough and hardy and Ascot could be the ideal spot for her. it was a bit tight coming back five days after her run at the Curragh but there aren’t many fillies-only maidens for her. She was professional and Pat (Smullen) said she was very tough. She was coming to the end of her tether at the line but maybe was feeling the pinch after her recent run. She’s not big but is hardy and what she lacks in size, she makes up for in heart. It’s great to get another winner for the syndicate (Fitzwilliam Racing).
Patuano looks one to follow
She had a few races on the all-weather and just didn't enjoy racing after that so I gave her a good break to come back for the slightest bit of cut. I thought the ground would be a bit quick today but she stuck at it well and did a good time (58.53 seconds). She travelled well the whole way and I thought she might get a bit tired but she loved it.
O'Brien/Heffernan complete Cork double
Lavery's Fire on the up
We've always liked her and Ronan (Whelan) thinks a step up in trip would be no harm for her and I think she's a galloper,. I think the ground was marginal for her and I'd have loved another shower of rain before the race but took a chance. The more racing she does, the more gears she'll get and she's learning to pick up. I'll see what the handicapper does now.
