Aggression making up for lost time
Avenger makes great start for English
I can't take too much credit as I only have him less than a month,. I bought him in Newmarket and Gaelic Bloodstock gave me some good advice, pointing him in my direction. I wouldn't normally go over there to buy a six-year-old but it's worked out well. It's the most money I've ever spent on a horse over at that sale so I'm glad it's worked out. He was a very good horse in his day. How much of that ability he still retains I don't know but we're going to have a bit of fun finding out by the looks of it. We've done very little with him, just freshened him up, brought him to the beach and let him walk in the sea - things like that. He had a breeze around here the other day and worked very well so we were quietly confident. He'll tip away over the winter here and then we might freshen him up for the summer.
Lotto win and Kelly double
That's good that's she done that. It was her third run up here and she had run very well the other two times,. It's nice for the owner (Gerard Jude Murphy) as that's his first horse. He won 6.3 million on the lotto last August. I met him in Galway and he asked me if I would get him a horse. Lads were advising him to spend big money but I said I'd get him a little handicapper and he'd have good fun - this is her. He's never enjoyed anything as much as that and got a great kick from it. He's from Kilmaine (in Mayo) so grew up in the same place as me. I'm looking forward to coming up here every few weeks with her now.
Moon done for the year
She's done what she had to do for this year and she'll go home now,.
Stronger still going well at eight
Doll enjoys polytrack and mile and a half
She's improved and the penny has dropped. She needed time and she's come to herself now,. Oisin is great value for his 5lb. She's won a race now for breeding for the man that has her. I don't know whether he'll cover her now or what he'll do with her. He bought mares today at the sales for covering by Fascinating Rock so that's maybe where she will go too.
Even the jockey is surprised to get the nod
McDonogh deserves his Black Label win
He's not a bad horse and he (handicapper) gave him a chance by dropping him back into that grade,. We'll tip away but he will get a break at some stage. He'll be more of a spring horse. He's been a great servant. He's not that old and will go over fences next season. We'll go summer jumping and mix it with him. We probably will try a better race down here in a couple of weeks time.
