The Insider wins on stable and hurdling debut
He travelled into it well, Jordan said they went quick and he arrived travelling nearly too well turning in. He was bought to go to America and the plan is for him to go there for the owners. It will be hard for him from now on (in Ireland) as he looks an early three-year-old (hurdler). Obviously the other one (Chargo) was our more fancied runner but that's horse racing and you have to jump, that's the name of the game. Jack (Kennedy) said she was much too keen.
Little Big Rocky delivers knockout blow
This is a fair horse and we were very hopeful coming. The only thing we were worried about was the Adare traffic!
'Powerful' display of galloping from Shannon Glory
I rode her in point-to-points but not very well, as I couldn't win on her! I always liked her but she couldn't handle winter ground and she was beaten in a confined point-to-point by a ten year old which had been eventing. In fairness she hasn't run a bad race on solid ground and on form it wasn't a total surprise she won so well. She met traffic problems at Tramore and we rode her handier today. There is a mares' novice for her at Listowel (in September) so that is something we might aim for and then she'll get a break for the winter.
Magnor Glory battles hard to gain poignant victory
We said we'd give him a break after his last run and come here before going to Galway. I didn't think he was 100% today but he is a funny horse to train and is very hard on himself. You can never do too little with him, Donal Macauley rides him at home and does a super job and keeps the lid on him. He has been fantastic for us and he'll run in the two-miles handicap hurdle on the Friday at Galway. The family are a bit emotional as Barry Walsh was involved with (owner) Joe Sheahan but died a fortnight before the horse won for the first time. Barry was a cattle dealer from Rathpeacon and this is a poignant moment.
Ryan completes 1-2 in Killarney's feature
I thought Ferdia would beat him but Danny gave the winner a super ride. So too did Philip (Donovan, on runner-up Ferdia) and both horses ran blinders. Ferdia is only a six year old and won his maiden hurdle this time last year so is a year behind The Dara Man. The Dara Man had lots of little issues which we appear to have got on top of, and looks a fair horse going forward. He'll run in those novice chases for the summer and will go to Galway. Ferdia is declared for Tipperary on Sunday and could well appear.
Treble for Ash Tree Meadow
at Wexford in May the ground was very quick and he got a fright (jumping right) but he was good there. He did it well and was also good in Perth the last couple of days. I'll give him a break now and bring him back for Cheltenham in October. He is a grand horse.
