Maya Quest brings Fitzsimons in from the cold
He won at bumper at Roscommon for me around three years ago and that was the last winner I had. He has had his problems since and he is the only one I have in training at the moment. He is owned by Richard Barrett (also bred him) from Ballina who has been a very loyal owner. Things hadn't been going well for us and that is a great boost. We were expecting him to run well as he is not a bad horse and the good ground here suited him. Jonathan gave him a great ride and he did everything that I asked him to do.
Afatcat a horse for the Clonmel course
When I got him first I thought he would be more of handicapper. We bought him out of Shark Hanlon's to go chasing. He turned in travelling well here in April and the ground just stopped him. He liked the good ground today. He loves fences and he has been schooling over bales and the stone walls of Galway and they have given him a great respect for fences.
Dushybeag does it in grand style
He was crying out for the trip and the ground and it wasn't easy to get it. He didn't jump or travel the last day at Punchestown and he is a fair horse on that ground. He will go handicapping now.
Heskin grabs quick-fire double
He was my first ever point-to-point winner and he is now my second track winner [had first track winner on April 22nd when Supreme Vic won at Ballinrobe]. He has been a great servant. Adrian gave him a great ride and he was very positive on him. He will go for something similar now and hopefully he will progress up the ladder and we can bring him to Galway.
Darin Carlotta shows her potential in bumper
The owners have been very patient as she had a few problems and she is a good mare. She got to the front a bit too soon. I thought Oscar'swan would bring her to the furlong pole, and she just idled when she got to the front. What really impressed me about her was how long it took me to pull her up. There is a mares winners' bumper that she could go for, but we will see what Dad thinks.
