Rip Rocks now Galway bound after Cork win
Padraig (Mullins, owner) has been with us from the start and it's great to get a winner for him and we're going to bring him to Galway now for the four year old hurdle on the Monday,. He was very weak last year and his flat form was very poor. He doesn't back up his races very well and that's why we space out his races and it took us a while to get the hang of him. We'll stay hurdling for now but we might get to a stage later on where we'll have to do something and could then go back to the flat.
Candy to Byrnes and a winning start over jumps for Trip
41/1 Cork double for Russell
Gillian Scott sends out 1st winner under her married name
That's my first winner since I came home from Australia and also my first winner in the new name so I'm delighted! I'm home a year and a half now and decided to take out my license again when he came along,. I was in Brisbane on Eagle Farm and I loved it there but it was time to come home. Mark gave him an exceptional ride, he know him and knows he is tough but has his quirks. I have him, two other point to pointers and two two-year-olds and that's it but I'd take what I could!. I'm delighted for my mother (owner Edwina Finn) - since Dad passed it's been hard as he was her rock.
5-in-a-row for Peregrine Run back over hurdles
This race was never the plan - the plan was to go to Leopardstown (for a flat maiden) but they changed the rules for the Amateur Handicap at Galway and now a horse has to have run three times on the flat to qualify, so I said I'd stick him into this race and see. It worked out a great opportunity and he was in great form. He has been plenty busy but he is taking his races so well. He is loving it and will now go straight to Galway. He'll be entered in the Plate and the 3m hurdle on the Saturday. We'll see what happens and hopefully he comes out of this race well. I'd love to win a flat maiden with him this year as his easiest options over jumps are now all gone.
Rock On Bennie springs 50/1 surprise at Cork
Well-bought Presto looks good on debut for McKiernan
We like him. He was a little bit anxious early on and we backed off him but he settled now and has matured in the last couple of months,. He travelled in the race really well and is a horse who has lots of gears. We bought him on this day last year for 12,000gns and he is a grand horse. I'm not sure if we have any horses for Galway. Whether we bring him or not I'm not sure. He'll go up the hill anyway, he jumps well and he would win a flat maiden also. Healy's Pub was my last bumper winner (in October 2002) and the pub has even closed as well!
