The Stewards interviewed C.M. Quirke, rider of Londonofficecallin, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the regulations

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3(g) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into account cautioned him on this occasion

The Stewards requested a report from Timothy Townend, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of We'llhavewan, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that this horse was wearing sheep skin cheek pieces and a tongue strap for the first time today. This combined with the better ground today compared with Clonmel last time may have contributed to a return to form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation.
