FormscanBy Tom Weekes - WHITE BIRCH must turn Epsom and Irish Derby placings with Auguste Rodin but has had a better preparation. Ground-versatile but better suited by soft, he was beaten five lengths by Auguste Rodin in the English Derby and while disappointing in the Irish version, seemed better-than-ever when winning the recent Mooresbridge Stakes. Top class Auguste Rodin flopped for a third time in March's Sheema Classic and while two of those disappointments were on seasonal reappearances, also failed in July's King George. This race has been his target since Meydan and while he should regain form, nonetheless needs his best to beat the selection. Lumiere Rock finished third in October's Prix de l'Opera while promising Elegant Man has his first run on turf.
