The two mile five furlong handicap hurdle at Limerick boiled down to three horses and it was The Grey Guy who saw it out best.

Top-weight The Church Gate led About You and The Grey Guy into the home straight and indeed all three held chances over the last.

It was The Grey Guy who finished strongest though to score by three parts of a length at 5/1. About You took the runner-up berth at 7/1. The Church Gate, the 9/4 favourite, cracked first on the run in and was beaten five lengths by the winner into third.

Trainer Brian O'Keefe said: "Paddy Mangan gave him a great ride and I'm not taking the credit at all. That's the way to ride him and you have to produce him late. I give Paddy the credit not me and we'll go for something similar next. I'm delighted!"
