Only four went to post for the feature F.B.D Insurance Hurdle at Kilbeggan but the Willie Mullins-trained pair Shakervilz and Sergent Guib's provided quite a spectacle as they duelled for the prize.
Sergent Guib's, the mount of Ruby Walsh, was sent off the 10-11 favourite and looked to be going slightly the better of the pair as they entered the closing stages, with the other two runners out of contention.
But Shakervilz (7-2), who had been in front for a long way, responded well to Patrick Mullins' urgings and held his stable companion by three-quarters of a length on his return to the smaller obstacles.
Walsh led virtually all the way to take the Kinnegad Maiden Hurdle on Mullins' 8-15 favourite Supreme Carolina who got home by a comfortable two and three-quarter lengths after Boxer Beat unseated at the final flight.
Winning pointer Prince Ludovic (8-1) followed up his victory in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel last month by taking the Westmeath Beginners Chase on his switch to fences.
Davy Russell led all the way on Paul Nolan's Gigginstown gelding, who jumped well to beat Benash by two and a quarter lengths, with hot favourite Silverhand looking unsuited by the tight track and Cadspeed a faller.
There was a thrilling finish to the Belvedere House, Gardens & Park Handicap Chase and it went to the Liam Kenny-trained Galant Ferns who rewarded Bryan Cooper for his perseverance.
The eight-year-old looked booked for a place jumping the last, but leader Kilflora tied up badly and Cooper drove Galant Ferns (8-1) past both him and The Book Thief to grab the prize by two lengths.
Market rivals White Feathers (4-7 favourite) and Westhaven dominated the Tullamore Maiden Hurdle from start to finish and it was the former, trained by Garrett Power and ridden by Paul Townend, who forged clear to score by 11 lengths.
