< Marvellous produced a devastating surge to secure a sixth success in the Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas for trainer Aidan O'Brien.
The lightly raced daughter of Galileo, well beaten in the Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial on her last start, was sent off a 10-1 chance under Ryan Moore and had plenty to do at the top of the straight.
But she put in a sustained run to collar the favourite Lightning Thunder deep inside the final furlong and quickly asserted her authority, powering clear to score by three lengths.
Frankel's brother Noble Mission (evens joint-favourite) showed he too owns the ability to win at Group One level as he led all the way to land the Tattersalls Gold Cup for Lady Cecil.
James Doyle, who carried the same Khalid Abdullah colours to glory on Kingman in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, quickened into a handsome lead in mid-race and though he was tiring at the end, Noble Mission had a length and a quarter in hand of Magician < Adelaide kept O'Brien's grip on the Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes when stepping forward from his Prix Hocquart second to win with some authority in the hands of the trainer's son Joseph.
The 4-6 favourite quickened up from the quarter-mile pole and was in command of the Group Three contest a furlong out, going away to beat his stablemate, the long-time leader Mekong River by three lengths.
There was a shock in the Elusive Pimpernel EBF Maiden when Jim Bolger's 20-1 shot Intense Style turned round the form with the odds-on Dick Whittington from their Naas clash, leading a furlong and a half out under Kevin Manning and stretching a length and a quarter clear.< Great Minds (4-1 favourite) pounced from a bad draw in the Emirates Equestrian Federation Handicap and Thomas Edison (4-1 favourite) slipped through on the rail to claim the Irish Daily Mail Handicap, while a Ballydoyle treble was completed by 5-4 favourite Table Rock in the Newstalk EBF Maiden.
