Henry de Bromhead and Andrew Lynch were the duo to follow at Clonmel as they recorded a double including Pierlow in the first division of the Go Racing In South East Voucher For Father's Day Handicap Hurdle.
The five-year-old was never far away and led on the home turn, but he looked a sitting duck as Res Ipsa Loquitur ranged upsides travelling sweetly going to the second-last.
But the favourite put in two awful leaps and even though she still held every chance, Pierlow (8-1) battled back to win for the first time at the 10th attempt, passing the post half a length in front.
The double was initiated by 5-1 joint-favourite Cordelia Belle who jumped the last in front in the Family Fun Evening At Clonmel Races Handicap Hurdle but had to pull out all the stops to withstand the charging Ittimetogo by a head.
It could have been even better for the jockey as he looked to have the Christopher Memorial Beginners Chase in the bag as Sizing India neared the last, but Jim Dreaper's nine-year-old crashed out and Afatcat (16-1), ridden by Robbie Colgan for Stephen Mahon, accepted the gift to score.
Michael Hourigan's 2-1 joint-favourite Dushybeag set up a double for Adrian Heskin, going clear approaching two out in the Go Racing In South East 5 For 50 Euro Beginners Chase, with Norman Lee's Survival (12-1) adding the second with a narrower success in the Clonmel Show Sunday 6th July Handicap Chase.
Edward O'Grady was on the mark when Hell Cat Maggie second on three of her previous four starts, ran out a comfortable winner of the BBQ Evening At Clonmel Races Maiden Hurdle.
Barry Geraghty sent the 5-4 favourite into the lead jumping three out and gradually stepped up the pressure, with the final threat disappearing when Steel King blundered at the last. The winning distance was five lengths.
Well-regarded 7lb claimer Johnny Burke put another winner on the scoreboard when keeping the Michael Fitzsimons-trained Maya Quest (16-1) up to his work to land the second division of the handicap hurdle.
