Ya Boy Ya enjoys August in Tramore again Ya Boy Ya saw off outsider Rippon Lodge at the end of an extended two miles five furlongs in the EY Chase at Tramore. James Kenny's mount went off 11/10 favourite with the defection of Swordsman and Myth Buster reducing the field to five runners. He raced through to head Friary Rock before the penultimate fence but Rippon Lodge loomed large on his outer. Ya Boy Ya was ridden to try and assert before the last where he put in a sketchy leap that enabled Rippon lodge to get a sniff of victory. The short run-in helped the leader, though as he kept on to close it out by a length and a quarter from the 80/1 runner-up who ran a fine race. Colin Bowe's assistant trainer Brendan Walsh said: "He is a nice consistent, summer horse. He is a good jumper and turns up every day. He is dependent on that ground and James gets on extremely well with him. "Where he goes next will be ground dependent. There is no big plan with him, we will take it one day at a time. He is a grand horse and we are delighted to have him. "The owners are all from the Gorey area and James is from that area too." Ya Boy Ya won a maiden hurdle at last year's August Festival in Tramore. Additional reporting by Donal Murphy
