The only last time out winner in the field (that victory coming at Wolverhampton two weeks back), My Good Brother was friendless in the betting for the second split of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Handicap at Dundalk. However the three-year-old top-weight shrugged aside such considerations to prevail under Colin Keane. Dark Danger set a searching pace in this six furlong heat but she was reeled in by My Good Brother a furlong out. The victorious Elusive City gelding (second winner for that stallion on the night following on from Zalty in the opener) kept on well inside the last to beat Whatyoumaycallit (25s into 14s) by three parts of a length. Doonard Prince came home well for third, a neck adrift.
Two to one favourite, Little Village had to settle for fifth whilst morning gamble Richelieu (16s into 6s) could do no better than eleventh.
Winning trainer Tom McCourt said: "He did it well. We thought a lot of him early on.
"Joseph O'Brien rode him in a Fairyhouse maiden and he showed plenty of speed then.
"He then had muscle trouble but it was nice to see him show plenty of speed again there.
"Hopefully he won't get hammered in the handicap like the last time and if that's the case we'd like to think that there'd be another race in him around here.
"He only went over to Wolverhampton because there was only three races for him here before Christmas."
