Trainer Jarlath Fahey received a timely boost at Fairyhouse today as his Lyrical Attraction landed the Making Dreams Come True Handicap, 24 hours after his stable star Sea The Lion sustained a tendon injury at York.
Sea The Lion, third in last year's Ebor at York, finished seventh in yesterday's prep run for a repeat bid and following Lyrical Attraction's win, trainer Fahey reported “he's (Sea The Lion) not great as there is a bit of heat in one of the tendons this morning.
“All the plans for him are on hold now at the minute until we get him assessed.”
Lyrical Attraction was herself registering a third career win from just nine starts and was completing a double on the day for jockey Ronan Whelan who won the earlier Brownstown Stakes on Surrounding
Regarding Lyrical Attraction Fahey said “it's great that she's won again. She keeps finding the whole time and keeps improving away.
“She wouldn't show you a major amount at home on the gallops but she's been very consistent on the racecourse. We thought with the ground having dried out again we had a good chance again.
“She's home-bred by David and his wife Catherine (Harrison) and she's going to the paddocks there when she's finished racing.
“I don't know whether she'd be a Galway horse or not. They go quick early there and she gets behind the bridle a bit. You need to be able to race with the pace in Galway. She can climb a hill in fairness to her as she does a good bit of work up in Oghill (gallops).
“The ground is the most important thing as it has to be on the quick side of good for her.”
