Emaniya and Oisin Orr race on from eventual fourth Divinely© Photo Healy Racing
The opening 2-y-o fillies’ maiden went to Emaniya (11/2) who scored by three quarters of a length in the hands of Oisin Orr.
The daughter of Sea The Stars had made a pleasing debut when keeping on for fifth over a furlong shorter at the Curragh last month, and turned around form with April Showers (10/3) who had been a place ahead of her then but had to settle for second on this occasion. Ahandfulofsummers (11/1) was third with 3/1 joint favourites Divinely and Light Of Your Eyes fourth and seventh respectively.
Emaniya was always travelling kindly tracking the leaders towards the outer and Oisin Orr sent her on inside the final quarter mile. From a very stout Aga Khan family including the likes of Ebadiyla and Enzeli, she saw out the mile trip here in good style.
Kris Weld, assistant to winning trainer Dermot Weld, said: “She ran very well from a bad draw on her first start at the Curragh and has put that experience to good use today and I thought she won nicely.
"She has had two quick runs now so we will give her some time now.
"She is a beautifully bred filly and we'll look for a Listed race now; she is entered in the Debutante Stakes (on August 22) but that comes to quick and we'll wait a bit longer.
"She got the mile well today but her dam was fast. We're hoping she has a good future ahead of her."
