Dermot Weld could be doubly represented with two classic winners in the Coolmore America ‘Justify’ Matron Stakes at the Irish Champions Festival in Leopardstown on September 9.

The master of Rosewell House has won the last two renewals of the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas with Homeless Songs and Tahiyra, and both fillies could line up in the €400,000 Group 1 mile event.

Tahiyra impressed when successful on both starts as a juvenile last year including the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and, after going down narrowly in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, joined the classic winning roll of honour at the Curragh in May.

The following month she recorded a third Group 1 win when again landing the odds in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

“I’m satisfied with the way she’s coming along. She’ll have to do a piece of work early in the week,” Weld told Racing TV.

Homeless Songs took last year’s Irish Guineas in blistering fashion when quickening clear inside the final furlong to score by over five lengths and subsequently went off 5/4 favourite when fourth in the Matron.

However, she hasn’t been seen since going down by a neck to Buckaroo at Leopardstown back in April.

“I’ve also got Homeless Songs coming back and have to decide where we are,” said Weld.

“I’m happy the way she’s coming forward and just want to see whether we can get her to the Matron in time or not. She’ll tell me when she’s ready.”
