Weld doubles up with Romiyna Dermot Weld doubled up at Gowran this evening when Romiyna made an impressive debut in the mile-and-a-half fillies maiden. Leigh Roche produced the 5/2 favourite to lead under two furlongs from home and she was pushed out to assert passing the furlong pole. The Aga Khan-owned filly shied away from the rail in the closing stages but still had plenty in hand as she recorded a six-length success over Queen Iseult. “She's a nice filly. She's still an immature sort of filly,” said Weld. “We'll progress quietly with her and hopefully she'll make into a stakes filly for us during the year. Where she fits in time will tell. “I thought they went a nice even pace and she stays well. We'll see how she gets on but we like her a lot. “Maybe the Oaks trial at Naas may be a suitable race. I don't think she's ready to take on older horses yet as she's babyish mentally. I expected her to run a very good race.”
