Vinnie provides O'Shea with second success Denise O'Shea recorded her second success in the training ranks as her Supreme Vinnie took the bumper at Clonmel, the Music After Racing From 'Legends' Flat Race, under John O'Meara. O'Shea, who trains at Cloyne in Co Cork, registered her first winner at Thurles last October when Shinawil won a handicap hurdle under Jonathan Burke. Supreme Vinnie, who is a six-year-old son of Vinnie Roe, was beaten by just a neck in a bumper at Kilbeggan last July and he finished fifth and third on his next two outings. Having his first run since October he was sent off a 16/1 chance in the colours of the Moon & Stars Syndicate. Settled towards rear he made progress into mid-division with just under a circuit to race. He was on the heels of the leaders turning into the straight but met with traffic problems from two furlongs out. Once in the clear a furlong from home he soon came through to lead and kept on well in the closing stages to score by two and a half lengths. Deputy's Pass was sent off the 5/2 favourite (from 10/3) and he finished second under Steven Clements for Alan Fleming while Loughmore Queen was a further half a length back in third under David Roche for Henry De Bromhead at 3/1. Denise O'Shea said afterwards: "I love this horse to bits and he's very tough and hardy. He has tonnes of ability. "He was bred by Padraig O'Donovan (from Cloyne) and owned by him and his three sons. Padraig's not too well at the moment so hopefully this will prove a good tonic. "He may go for a winners' bumper and then go jumping. He's a summer fun horse, and John gave him a great ride." STEWARDS REPORTS ** The Stewards fined S. Curling, trainer, E350 for lodging a passport in respect of Moscow Prices, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order. ** Mr D.L. Queally, rider of Erins Pride trained by P.Meany, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly during this race. ** The Stewards interviewed Mr D. O'Shea, rider of Armhuin Na Muice, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b), in that he used the whip when his chance of winning or being placed had gone and having considered his record, suspended him for two race days .
