Urban Oasis overcame a bad bump a furlong out to get up on the line to take the Gowran Park Golf Club Apprentice Handicap at Gowran Park.

Johnny Feane 's gelding looked to be coming with a strong challenge up the rail only to suffer interference which appeared to end his chances.

To the horses credit, he recovered well and battled back under Jamie Powell to get his head in front where it mattered. He had the bare minimum to spare over hat-trick seeking Lamprog who also suffered interference in an eventful race.

The winner had finished behind the runnerup when they met at Tipperary last time but he was better off at these weights and certainly made it count.

When asked if he thought he was up Feane said:- “No I didn't but I was told that it favours the near side here.

“It's grand that he won it as he was a bit unlucky the last day when things didn't work out. He stuck at it well today and the handicapper can't be too hard on him. We'll have a bit more fun with him.”
