Champion apprentice jockey Ronan Whelan completed a double at odds of over 20/1 in the concluding Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Handicap on his boss, Jim Bolger's Heavy Weight Rocky's Pride Fairmile and Night Glimmer were responsible for an unsustainable gallop and not surprisingly that trio wilted in the straight to fill the last three places.
Whelan, earlier on the mark on Pat Martin's The Reek got there to deliver his challenge on Heavy Weight from two furlongs out.
The 100/30 chance, following up a victory here from late in September, led inside the final quarter mile and in the end he fended off Shake The Bucket by a length and a quarter.
Whelan explained: "He's a lovely honest horse and he has plenty of pace.
"We were worried at one stage about him staying a mile but there are no doubts now (this contest was over ten furlongs). He wasn't stopping at the line.
"He's an improving horse along the lines of Paene Magnus, who I won on here last week (Heavy Weight and Paene Magnus are both sons of Teofilo)." (MG & EM)
