Timiyan gives McManus four in Bellewstown JP McManus had an evening to remember with a four-timer in Bellewstown that was brought up by Timiyan in race five. The six-year-old gelding contested the featured Fast Shipping Bellewstown Handicap Hurdle. He made lovely headway from behind the leaders to tank into contention after the third last. At the penultimate hurdle he was just a shade off Top Othe Ra and was ridden into the lead before the last by Davy Russell. Timiyan stuck to his guns and asserted in the closing stages to justify 7/4 favouritism. Top Othe Ra (9/1) kept on at the same pace in second, two and aquarter lengths adrift. There was a nine-length gap back to Usa (16/1). Gordon Elliott, who was saddling a double, said: “He did it well and we'll try and find something small for him again. It was straightforward enough." When asked he could be a possible for the Galway Hurdle he replied: “I'd have to discuss it with Frank (Berry) — we'll see.” Davy Russell added: "He has done it well to be fair to him. He jumped well and stayed at it well to the line. The second horse came at me and we battled it out from there." The McManus quad paid almost 49/1. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
