Michael Graham - GAELIC DES CHASTYS is enjoying life with Eric McNamara. He has banked a victory over hurdles and a trio of second places in handicap chases since switching to McNamara, and should put in another decent effort in this big field. Portnacoo ran up a treble at Downpatrick for his former trainer and performed with credit in third on stable debut for Ross O'Sullivan at Navan. Tom Harney lessens his burden by 7lb and the pair are certainly contenders. Birmingham Alabama has been off since winning by the narrowest margin at Wexford in July, while Goodie Girl and Slim Marvel are others with chances.

1.50 Fairyhouse, 3m. 110yds. Handicap Hurdle

Michael Graham - CROSSING THE BAR has each-way claims in an open race. He came from a fair way back for fourth in a higher grade over 3m1f at Navan last month which brings him into contention. There are plenty of dangers, though. Read To Return reverts back to hurdles off an attractive mark of 99, while Meehall won over fences at Killarney in August and in a Galway handicap hurdle in October. Juniper Hill showed good improvement when holding on by a nose over a similar trip at Tipperary in November. Not My Problem's best results have been on better ground, but he is in decent nick.

2.05 Cheltenham 2m. 4f. 127yds. Premier Handicap Chase

UK Formscan - Runner-up to a talented sort of Nicky Henderson's last time out over C&D, SPRINGWELL BAY remains unexposed in this sphere and a mark of 145 could underestimate him on his handicap chase debut. The seven-year-old has scored on soft ground before and is narrowly preferred to the hat-trick-seeking Gemirande, who was a taking winner of the December Gold Cup over C&D last month. A promising second on his return behind the reopposing Marble Sands at Carlisle in November before disappointing in the Coral Gold Cup, Colonel Harry is a key player dropping back in trip, while Lisnamult Lad is an intriguing contender from Ireland.
