Third time lucky for Salt Lake City Well backed Salt Lake City (9/5f, from 5/2) made all to win on his third attempt at Navan today, landing the NavanRacecourse.ie Maiden for trainer Aidan O'Brien, owners Coolmore and jockey Wayne Lordan. The son of Galileo was an eye-catcher when finishing second on debut in August and while he flopped subsequently at York, today made all for an impressive five lengths win over Dutch Gold. Trainer O'Brien's representative Chris Armstrong said "he's a lovely colt and Wayne (Lordan) gave him a lovely ride from the front. He had a good run the first day at the Curragh and maybe the quick ground was the reason for the slightly disappointing run in England. "He is a horse that has been coming along and has been working nicely. He is a horse to look forward to next year. "We have obviously got those Group races in two weeks' time between Ireland, England and France and he could be one for one of those, but he is a horse to look forward to for next year." Paddy Power made Salt Lake City 20/1 from 100/1 for the Vertem Futurity Trophy and 33/1 from 66/1 for the Derby. Quotes from Michael Graham
