The future looks bright for Sruthan Paul Deegan unleashed a smart prospect in the Irish News Against The Breeze Median Auction 3yo Maiden, as his Arakan newcomer Sruthan scored at the odds of 4/1 under Chris Hayes. Having chased the leaders in the early stages he improved into third two furlongs out. He was then pushed on to lead a furlong and a half from home and he kept on well under pressure from over a furlong out to score by a length and a quarter at the line. The Eddie Lynam trained Pearl Of Africa ran well to finished second at 10/1 under Fran Berry while the 6/4 favourite, Toureen Legend, could only manage third, two and a half lengths back under Billy Lee. Paul Deegan said afterwards: "We think he is smart. We were so disappointed that it was off last week as he has always shown plenty. "It’s obviously a good mare (Giveupyeraulsins) the Hyland’s (winning owners who are from Monasterevin) have at home. "He is a half-brother to Sruchan (won his last three, the latest at the Curragh on Sunday) and while he is a good handicapper this fellow is a proper horse. He will have learned a lot from that." The winner was bought for just €1,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearlings Sale in 2011. Additional reporting by Alan Magee
