The Lords Walk wins Sligo's opener The Lords Walk gained his second career success in his second run in a Claimer at Sligo today, as the Jarlath Fahey trained gelding scored a narrow win in the opening Sligo Racecourse Claiming Race under jockey Ronan Whelan. The five year old son of Dick Turpin had finished second on his previous start in a Gowran Claimer on May 30 and improved on that showing today when holding on for a neck win over Percy B Shelley, with a half length to third-placed Sbraase. Trainer Fahey later said “he’s a horse of limited ability but he does his best and that’s his second win and he’s a good horse to pay his way. If he is claimed hopefully he’ll give the next people as much fun as we’ve had with him. He was rated to win that today and Ronan gave him a great ride.” The Lords Walk, which was in to be claimed for E8,000, failed to find a buyer post-race but third-placed Sbraase was picked up for E4,000 by trainer Gavin Cromwell, who was successful from three cliams.
